The thought of reducing your waste is something pretty intimidating in my opinion. The idea of changing your daily activities and consumptions honestly, just sounds like a lot of work. But there is actual good in doing this, and my blog is here to give easy alternatives to take small strides towards something bigger.
A lot of people believe that recycling alone, is going to change this environment, and in a small way it is. However, only a very tiny fraction of what is put in the recycling bins actually gets recycled. National Geographic reported that 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic has been produced, and of that 6.3 billion metric tons have become actual plastic waste. So that means only about 9% of this has actually been recycled. Sadly, a majority of it ends up in landfills, which helped me come to the realization that I need to do more to help this beautiful planet we are on. We need to use less plastics and begin reusing and reducing.
Now lets get off this statistical tangent for the few skeptics out there, and get to the fun stuff! What we all actually came here to get inspiration on…. the alternatives! So stay tuned for next week as I will begin the journey into easy options for reducing your impact on the planet.
